The Hotel Convento D’Alter is located just two hours away from Lisbon in the villa of Alter do Chão, in the Alentejo region of Portugal. A completely restored Franciscan Convent of the late XVI century which was used as private residence yet during the last one.

The Royal Stud Farm of Alter where the Lustianian horses are bred is also worth visiting. It was built by order of King D.João V in 1748 upon request of his son Prince D.José.
